Since your gun has a 1972 serial number, it apparently was a leftover receiver that Marlin decided to use in 1973 with the introduction of the Model 30A. glenfield model 30a sight options? My stepson was given a Glenfield model 30A by his grandparents. the rear leaf sight is horrible and we had to remove the elevator completely to get it to shoot.
